The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
